New food outlets for Birmingham Airport
11.02.10
Food & beverage specialist Pret A Manger has secured leases on three prime locations at Birmingham Airport following a tender carried out late last year. The shops are the first Pret outlets to open in any airport outside the South East and are a major step forward in the company’s development strategy to be represented within all major airports across the UK, a spokesman said.
One airside outlet will begin trading in the departure lounge of Terminal 1, in addition to one landside in T1 and a new external kiosk. Work on the units is set to begin in March, with plans to be open in May. The three shops will be served by a large on-site kitchen, part of Pret’s commitment to prepare all sandwiches, salads and wraps using fresh, natural ingredients each day. The on-site kitchen will also enable each shop to react quickly to fluctuations in footfall and high volumes of customers at busy times.
The shops’ opening hours will be between 4am-11pm Monday to Sunday, with plans to open 24 hours during the summer months when the airport is busiest.
