bmibaby launched flights from Birmingham Airport to Madrid, the capital of Spain, yesterday. The budget airline, which claims to be the largest carrier based in the Midlands, is the only carrier to fly to Madrid from the West Midlands.
The new four services a week service will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, throughout winter 2007-08, expanding to six flights a week during the summer, when the airline will also operate connections to Krakow in Poland and Milan in Italy.
David Hodge, the airline's commercial director, said: 'We are delighted to launch another new route from Birmingham International. Madrid is a fantastic city ideal for both leisure and business passengers.'
