Birmingham Airport security staff ban man over gun T-shirt
07.06.07
Birmingham Airport security guards stopped a passenger from boarding a plane this week because he was wearing a T-shirt with a gun on it. Caine Boyce, 33, was told to throw the top away or pay to check it into excess luggage.
Mr Boyce, who was travelling from Birmingham to Edinburgh, was wearing a green and black T-shirt with a picture of a pistol and the slogan 'Green Piece' on it. He said: 'I would like to know who this is offensive to. It's got a gun on it but so what? It's just a play on words.'
Airport bosses defended the decision, saying the T-shirt constituted 'offensive clothing'. A Birmingham Airport spokeswoman said: 'Our policy to passengers wearing such items is to cover the print or replace them.'
Given the revelations on the recent TV programme, we are surprised the guards were awake!
