Flybe announce summer schedule; performance ‘ahead of last year’

Regional budget airline Flybe says that its performance for the first quarter of the 2008/09 financial year is ahead of last year, when it recorded record profits. The airline says this puts Flybe ‘in a position that few of its rivals can match’.
The airline has also unveiled its 2009 summer schedule today. It includes new flights to Jersey from Inverness, Dundee and Manston in Kent. The airline is also increasing frequencies from Robin Hood, Cardiff, Exeter, Newcastle and Birmingham Airport. More new routes are to be announced later this week.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: ‘Over the last 12 months we have continued to grow and develop to provide the most cost-effective, efficient and flexible service for business and leisure passengers, and it is paying off. Our customers keep coming back and consumer confidence in Flybe remains strong.'
