Two injured at Birmingham Airport

01.12.08

Two members of staff needed medical treatment when a section of covered walkway failed at Birmingham Airport. The airbridge, which attaches to an aircraft, came away on Friday evening. One person suffered an injured ankle while another was treated for shock.

The airport said passengers were not using the tunnel at the time and the airbridge, along with two others, had been taken out of service. A spokesperson said: ‘An investigation is taking place at Birmingham International Airport following an incident on Friday evening which involved the failure of a section of airbridge.'

‘ One member of staff suffered an injured ankle and another staff member was treated for shock. No passengers or aircraft were directly involved. No further details can be given at this time.’
