Aer Lingus carry one millionth Belfast passenger
26.08.09
Aer Lingus have flown its one millionth passenger since it launched flights from Belfast International Airport in December 2007. Rachel Millar from Newtownards arrived home from Munich as the millionth person to fly. She received a 'golden ticket' entitling Rachel to a year's free flights for two to anywhere on the airline's network from Belfast.
Enda Corneille, Aer Lingus director of corporate affairs, said; ‘ It's a fantastic achievement. We've taken 1.3 million bookings so far and have flown one million passengers - and all this in just over 18 months from a standing start. We have taken more than half-a-million bookings on Heathrow alone.'
'At Aer Lingus we are giving our customers what they want, a low fare combined with high service on the most important route between Northern Ireland and GB both for leisure and business. Our success has exceeded our expectations but we remain determined to continue to provide real value for money for our passengers and to seek ways to improve the range of destinations we serve.’
