New reduced mobility services at Belfast Airport
27.07.08
Belfast International Airport has introduced a number of new services for passengers with reduced mobility ahead of the new EU legislation introduced yesterday. The regulations make it easier for disabled people to travel through Europe, putting the onus on airports to assist them.
Belfast International Airport has rolled out a number of new facilities after working closely with airlines to develop services that met their operational needs while improving the situation for the passenger.
Airport operations manager Rod Haskins said: ‘After a tender process we awarded Interserve the contract to manage services at Belfast and they successfully took over at the beginning of June, two months ahead of the EU legislation deadline.'
‘Interserve has a team of specially trained staff to deal with passengers who require assistance. These passengers will continue to request the help through their airline or travel agent (at time of booking). The details will then be passed through to Interserve to help on the day of travel through Belfast International.’
