25.02.09
A drugs 'mule', who swallowed 107 packages of pure cocaine worth £600,000 in an attempt to smuggle them in to the UK via Belfast International Airport was jailed for six years yesterday.
Edward Adjei, a Dutch national aged 36, was arrested by UK Border Agency (UKBA) officers at the airport after arriving on a flight from Amsterdam in June 2008. He admitted charges related to drug smuggling. John Whiting, Assistant Director, Criminal Investigation at HMRC, said criminals dealing in drugs 'show utter disregard for the damage they do to individuals and communities.'
