Residents group say Belfast City Airport to be allowed to expand
18.06.08
Another 3,000 flights a year are to be allowed in and out of the Belfast City Airport, a residents' group told the BBC. The Belfast City Airport Watch say it will bring the number of flights in and out of the airport to 48,000 a year.
A spokesperson for the group said the new figures were revealed in a draft document produced by the Department of the Environment. She said: ‘We are absolutely furious about this latest development. We are calling on Environment Minister Sammy Wilson to subject the Draft Planning Agreement to full public consultation.’
A spokesman for the DOE said it was inappropriate to comment as the draft planning agreement ‘is currently subject to consultation’.
