Row over football shirts at Belfast Airport

Northern Ireland football shirts could soon be available at Belfast Airport gift shops for the first time after it emerged that the strip will soon be for sale in Dublin. There was widespread criticism from fans and unionist politicians following press reports that London based company Alpha Airports had refused to stock the shirt at its gift shops. Now the firm has asked to meet the Irish Football Association (IFA) to discuss the issue.
Last week, Sports Minister Edwin Poots wrote to Belfast International Airport making the case for selling Northern Ireland shirts in its gift shops. A spokeswoman for the company has now said that, in principle, it is not against Northern Ireland shirts going on sale at its Belfast International Airport and Belfast City Airport outlets.
