BMI cut Belfast – Heathrow flights
16.09.09
BMI is reducing the number of flights it operates between Belfast and Heathrow from eight to seven from the end of next month. The airline has been under pressure from Aer Lingus, which launched flights between Belfast International and Heathrow a year ago.
From October 25, BMI's 19:00 flight from Heathrow to Belfast City Airport and its 21:05 flight in the opposite direction will be dropped from the duration of the winter schedule. In an email to passengers, the airline said it would try to make alternative arrangements for those who had already booked one of the flights.
A spokesman for the airline said: ‘The two early evening flights which leave within forty minutes of each other will be merged. This change in the winter timetable maintains adequate passenger capacity.’
