Flybe to launch Belfast flights from Manston; axe Manchester flights
16.03.11
Flybe is to launch a new route between Belfast and Manston Airport in Kent. But the airline will also 'suspend' (axe) its service between Manston and Manchester from Monday April 4 as ‘passenger numbers made the flight economically and environmentally hard to justify’.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: ‘Whilst the service to Manchester has unfortunately proved unsustainable, we have been delighted with the support shown by travellers to and from the region on the Manston - Edinburgh route and remain committed to developing our route network from Manston.’
The summer service to Belfast will run three times a week – on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday - starting on May 26. Fares are from £29.99 one way, including taxes and charges.
