Belfast Airport worker in birthday honours list
14.06.09
Esme Maxwell, a 60-year-old mother-of-two who has worked on the information desk at Belfast International Airport since 1987, during which time she has helped countless troubled travellers, was awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list.
Mrs Maxwell, of Antrim, is the first point of contact for many members of the public at the airport and she is part of the Airport Care Team and its charity committee. She said: ‘It's just not me... it's for everyone. I consider myself very privileged to work in the environment I'm working in because you do get the opportunity to help people.’
