10 years for Belfast Airport drug smugglers
12.06.09
Two Polish men who attempted to smuggle cocaine worth £500,000 into Northern Ireland via Belfast International Airport were jailed for 10 years and four months yesterday. Adam Ruczaj, 28 and Tomasz Ciulwik, 29, were caught at the airport having swallowed a total of 200 packages of cocaine.
The pair, who are both from Poswietne, Bielsk Podlaski, arrived on a flight from Amsterdam last August. Antrim Crown Court heard that both men had thought they were smuggling cannabis. However, after they were taken to hospital for examination, it was discovered the drugs were in fact cocaine worth an estimated £500,000.
