Weather hits flights at Belfast Airports
05.01.08
Freezing weather brought travel chaos to Northern Ireland yesterday. Belfast City Airport was closed for a period and the first flight of the day took off almost three half hours late. Flights were also affected at Belfast International Airport, although the airport remained open. City of Derry Airport remained open but some flights were subject to indefinite delays.
A spokesman for the Met Office said the snowfall had been 'heavier than anticipated'. People were advised to stay at home unless their journey was absolutely necessary. Several schools closed for the day and many bus services were at a standstill.
