Aer Lingus boss says Belfast Airport passengers up in January
02.02.08
Aer Lingus chief executive Dermot Mannion said yesterday that sales on the airline's routes from Belfast International Airport improved in January after some of its flights were just over a quarter full in December. He added that he was confident the new service from Belfast to Heathrow, launched last month, would also prove a success.
Last week we reported that the airline’s first flights out of Belfast in December to Amsterdam had a load factor (the average number of seats sold per flight) of just 27%. Its flight to Barcelona had a load factor of 44% and on the Geneva route it was 39%. No figures are available yet for January, including on its service to Heathrow.
Mr. Mannion said: 'We’ve had a good January in Belfast and the figures are improving all the time. The Aer Lingus brand has now been brought to the attention of the entire public in Northern Ireland and we’ve been very well received. These are very early days.'
