Emergency landing at Aberdeen Airport
31.01.06
A full emergency was sparked yesterday after an alert on a plane flying from Aberdeen Airport to Shetland. An inquiry has been launched.
The captain turned the flight around after a warning light appeared in the cockpit just after 07:00. The emergency services were scrambled, however the plane - a Saab 340 operated by Loganair for British Airways - landed safely back at Aberdeen Airport. The 27 passengers were taken off the plane and alternative travel plans rearranged.
A BA spokesperson said: 'The flight returned to Aberdeen shortly after take-off as a precautionary measure after an indicator warning light in the cockpit. The flight crew will always act in the interests of safety and security.'
