Near miss causes problems for Aberdeen Airport

19 people have had a lucky escape last night when their plane overshot the runway at Aberdeen Airport by hundreds of yards. However hundreds of passengers faced major delays and disruption with flights after the incident caused the runway to be closed, with flights diverted to Edinburgh airport.
The City Star Airlines plane, en route from Stavanger, skidded off the north runway at Aberdeen airport shortly before 21:00 laste night. The runway did not reopen until around 23:00, with investigations in to the incided expected to continue throughout the night. It has been reported that there may have been a problem with the planes throttle.
It is hoped the airport would be open for business as usual this morning, but passengers were advised to check with their airlines for up to date information.
