Records broken at Aberdeen airport
20.09.05
Aberdeen airport enjoyed its busiest week ever last week. During Offshore Europe, 70,000 passengers from 33 countries passed through the terminal. Scheduled flights were fully booked and there were 30 special charter flights.
Aberdeen Airport Managing Director, Andy Flower, said, 'We are delighted to have played such a significant part in the success of Offshore Europe. As the main gateway into this region, we appreciate the important role of the airport and we hope our passengers and our partners were suitably impressed and that they enjoyed the whole experience - from touch down to take off."
Every aspect of the airport reported record figures, with shopping, catering and car hire doubling their business compared to the same week last year. The Baxters shop staff said that Scottish gifts were 'flying off the shelves' including specialist whiskies at more that £100 each. Car hire companies had to bring in additional cars.
