Passengers can't buy tickets at Aberdeen Airport

A traveller hoping to travel to Aberdeen Airport to Shetland was told he could not get a ticket at the airport and that he would have to go online or get on the phone instead, Shetland Today reports.
The newspaper says that local resident Colin Clark was in Aberdeen on a business trip and had stayed there for the weekend. After his flight was cancelled due to fog he decided to try to find out about buying a ticket from Aberdeen Airport.
However, when he approached the BA service desk to ask for a ticket price he was redirected to Servisair where he was told it wouldn't be possible to buy a ticket as Servisair don't currently have a ticket machine. He was told that to get a ticket for the flight he would have to either book online or over the telephone.
Mr Clark said: 'I was amazed that at an airport the size of Aberdeen you can't actually buy a ticket when you're physically there. You would have to go find an internet cafe or a phone or something.'
A spokesman for Loganair, who operate the flights under a franchise agreement with BA, said that the ticket problem at Aberdeen is a technical difficulty specific to that airport and will not be an ongoing problem. He said that this hasn't been a major problem for passengers as it's quite unusual for people to buy a ticket at the ticket desk in the airport itself.
An Aberdeen Airport representative told the newspaper: 'From what we understand, there haven't been any major problems for passengers looking for tickets. The Servisair staff have been contacting Glasgow to get tickets through them.'
