Official opening for Aberdeen Airport runway extension

The £10m extension of Aberdeen Airport's runway has been officially opened, eight months ahead of schedule. Work started in March and was expected to finish next summer, but was completed last month.
The 406ft (124-metre) extension to the north end of the runway will bring destinations including Egypt and Moscow within reach of Aberdeen for the first time, and opens up potential for routes to the US and Africa, if the airport can find airlines willing to operate them ! Airport managing director Derek Provan said it followed years of ‘planning and hard work’.
