Man in court over Aberdeen Airport cocaine find
06.02.08
A man who was caught at Aberdeen Airport with £500,000 worth of cocaine hidden in his briefcase appeared in court yesterday. Nigerian Cosmos Okoronkwo, 43, tried to go through the Nothing to Declare channel but was stopped late last year. His briefcase was searched and two kilos of cocaine found.
He had arrived via Amsterdam and claimed he was planning to do business with a local company. He later admitted that 'a friend of a friend' had asked him to carry the case in return for £3000.
Mr Okoronkwo admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine on 2 December last year at the High Court in Edinburgh. The judge, Lord Brodie, deferred sentence on him for background reports and remanded him in custody.
