Fog delays at Aberdeen Airport

Heavy fog caused delays at Aberdeen Airport today. At least 27 flights were affected, with 15 arrivals delayed, some by more than an hour, as planes circled overhead waiting for conditions to improve. This meant that 12 departure were also late – again some by more than an hour.
Three flights, the 08:10 KLM flight from Amsterdam, BA’s 08:25 from Heathrow and the 08:15 bmi flight from Manchester, were diverted to Edinburgh. Passengers from these flights were transferred to Aberdeen by bus or given the option of waiting at Edinburgh Airport for the fog to clear.
Conditions started to improve just before midday. The Met Office said no fog on the North-east coast was forecast for tomorrow.
