Emergency landing at Wick airport

A full emergency was declared at Wick Airport shortly after 09:00 yesterday when an Eastern Airways Jetstream aircraft was forced to make an unplanned landing due to mechanical problems. Fire, police, ambulance and coastguard units raced to the scene after the pilot of an plane reported having difficulty with his elevator controls.
The Jetstream 41 aircraft was a charter flights en route from Aberdeen Airport to the Faroe Islands with 10 passengers and 3 crew on board. The aircraft landed safely at 09.27 at Wick Airport and emergency services were stood down shortly afterwards.
An Eastern Airways spokesman said: 'The aircraft made a precautionary diversion to Wick after the pilot reported a technical problem.' Air accident investigators carried out an inspection of the plane at Wick.
