Ryanair to introduce €0.25 levy to cover ETS costs
10.01.12
Ryanair will introduce a €0.25 levy on every seat booked from next week to cover the expected €18-20 million cost for carbon permits it needs this year under a new EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), Reuters reports. Europe's largest budget airline has followed Delta Air Lines and Lufthansa in announcing it will pass the costs onto customers.
A Ryanair spokesman told Reuters: ‘We do not agree with it [ETS] and we do not believe there will be any environmental benefit.'
