O’Leary: another airline failure ‘in weeks’
08.10.08
Michael O'Leary,Ryanair's outspoken chief executive, has warned that another airline is likely to fold in the coming weeks, the Telegraph reports. He also predicted that two other European carriers would collapse before the end of the year.
The warning came as Ryanair said that it would continue to raise baggage fees until three-quarters of its passengers carried hand luggage only, up from its previous target of 50 percent. Mr O'Leary said: ‘It’s all about efficiency. Passengers won’t have to go near a check-in desk or pay for over-priced facilities at our rip-off airports.'
Ryanair already charges £24 return for passengers to check-in a bag (travellers have to pay an airport check-in fee of £8 as well as check-bag fee of £16).
