Southend Airport firms frustrated by lack of land
28.06.08
Businesses at Southend Airport are anxious to expand, but are being held back by a lack of available land, a senior councillor told the Echo newspaper.
Rochford district councillorfor planning, Keith Hudson, said: ‘The airport is the commercial centre of our district. Whilst employing maybe just 100 people itself, it is a the magnet and facilitator, which has attracted a further 1,486 jobs on the eight business estates located inside or near to its boundary. They have the enthusiasm, order books and financial wherewithal to provide lots more jobs for our residents. In doing so will help us encourage a thriving local community.’
