Southend Airport is throwing open its doors to the local community this weekend to give people a chance to see behind the scenes, the Echo reports. The special tours planned for Friday and Saturday (August 29 and 30).
For the hour-long tours, visitors will check in at the recently refurbished terminal before being taken for a guided tour by coach. They will take in the runway and neighbouring hangers and residents will learn about the businesses that use the airport and its facilities alongside how the airport is planning for the future.
Airport managing director Alastair Welch told the newspaper: ‘The tours give us an excellent opportunity to show locals what goes on at the airport today and an idea about how plans for the future.'
