Thomas Cook return to Southampton Airport (with help from Flybe)
30.08.10
Thomas Cook is to return to Southampton Airport after more than five years’ absence by launching flights to Majorca. Although the airline, which is one of the UK’s largest with a fleet of 44 planes, is launching just one route from Southampton, and the route will be operated using a chartered Flybe aircraft, airport owner BAA will be hoping it is just the first of many.
The arrival of another big airline will be welcome after Air France announced it is to pull out of Southampton later this year. Thomas Cook carried more than eight million passengers last year. The new flights to Palma will leave every Saturday from May next year and run until September.
