Flybe double capacity on Inverness – Manchester / Southampton routes

Flybe has announced that it is upgrading the aircraft used on its Inverness to Manchester and Southampton Airport routes to a 78-seat state-of-the art Bombardier Q400, effectively doubling capacity on the services.
The upgrade is being made much earlier than originally planned after ticket sales exceeded all expectations, the airline said. Flybe only launched the new routes on May 8 and, after only one week in operation, the decision has been made to upgrade the aircraft.
This changeover from the E145 currently operating the routes will start on July 10 with Flybe’s Inverness to Manchester service. The airline has not released details of when the new planes will be introduced on the Southampton route, but we assuming the timing will be similar.
Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer for Flybe, said, ‘We’ve been bowled over by the immediate success of these routes. It has always been our plan to phase out the older aircraft inherited from our acquisition of BA Connect in March last year and replace them with our newer, more environmentally friendly Q400s. We’re delighted that these routes have proved so popular, enabling us to introduce them so much earlier than originally planned.
