Southampton Airport passengers down 1.1%

Southampton Airport saw a 1.1% drop in passenger numbers last month compared to the same month the previous year. 157,900 passengers passed through its doors, compared to 159,700 in May 2010.
The drop was in contrast to the remainder of BAA's other UK airports, all of which enjoyed a boost to passenger numbers from both the Royal Wedding and the late Easter holiday. The company blamed the drop at Southampton Airport on fewer passengers on European scheduled flights.
