Southampton Airport ambassadors
02.07.08
Southampton Airport appointed a brand new team of 'ambassadors', equipped with the latest mobile technology to boost customer service at the hub. Their aim is to proactively assist passengers, and ensure travellers find the airport friendly and easy to use.
BAA is trialling the mobile technology at Southampton before deciding whether to roll it out at its six other larger UK airports. The ambassadors will use an iPod iTouch to help answer passenger enquiries such as the latest train times, traffic conditions and the weather in destinations passengers are flying to, using WiFi technology.
Another part of the airport ambassadors’ role is to welcome passengers arriving for the first time at Southampton airport. They are also able to offer advice on local attractions and events and also suggest the best way to get to them.
Mark Knox, Customer Service Director at Southampton Airport, said: ‘Excellent customer service is a real priority at Southampton Airport, and this new team is proving extremely popular with our passengers. By being fully mobile, the team can really provide a first class service to passengers throughout the airport.’
