Vulcan bomber to spend summer at Robin Hood Airport
30.03.11
The last flying Vulcan bomber has returned to its former Cold War base. The iconic aircraft will spend the summer months based at Robin Hood Airport, the former RAF Finningley that was the home of the Vulcan in the 1960s.
The deal could be the first stage in the development of a visitor centre that will eventually be linked to a facility to inspire the next generation of engineers and technicians. Vulcan to the Sky Trust CEO Dr Robert Pleming said: ‘We are thrilled that the last flying Vulcan has come home. We all feel that something very special could be created here, but I must emphasise that these are early days in the discussions.’
