Passengers down 29% at Robin Hood Airport
25.02.10
Passengers numbers at Robin Hood Airport in January dropped to the lowest level since it opened in 2005. Just 36,772 people passed though the airport last month, around 1,000 fewer than in December and 15,000 - or 29% - fewer than the same month in 2009.
It is the third consecutive month that passengers have dropped below 40,000 and reflects the current aviation slump. However, airport bosses said they are relaxed about the slump and confident passenger figures will increase by 40 percent over the next financial year after easyJet announced it would launch flights five European destinations and Aer Lingus' decision to offer flights to Dublin - with onward connections to New York and Boston.
