new robin hood airport to get long haul flights
23.04.05
Robin Hood Airport, Yorkshire's newest airport, which is due to start operating next week, has announced that it will fly long haul destinations from next summer. Holiday group Thomson has announced it will operate flights to the Caribbean, Florida and Mexico from the airport in the summer of 2006.
The first scheduled Thomsonfly flight is due to take off from Robin Hood Airport, the former RAF Finningley base near Doncaster, on 28.04.05. Opening destinations from the new airport will include Malaga, Valencia, Palma, Faro, Paris, Pisa, Alicante, Jersey, Ibiza, Prague and Dublin, all with Thomsonfly (0870 190 0737, www.thomsonfly.com; from £32), and Dublin, with Ryanair (0871 246 0000, www.ryanair.com; from £7.50).
The name was, however, recently dropped by Thomsonfly in a TV advertising campaign (see this earlier robin hood airport news story).
