Robin Hood Airport masterplan to be revealled
11.09.08
Robin Hood Airport will reveal their blueprint for the future to councillors today, the Doncaster Free Press reports. Owners Peel Holdings are scheduled to present an update on their draft masterplan to the borough's economy and enterprise panel.
The masterplan, drawn up in line with Government guidelines, will set out business proposals for up to 2030. It will include future levels of investment and possible employment opportunities.
A council report prepared in advance of today's meeting states that the airport expects to carry between 4.4 and 6.5 million passengers per year by 2016, while more than 7,000 jobs are expected to be created over the next seven years.
The masterplan is also set to be accompanied by a formal application to operate night time freight flights from Finningley. This is likely to be met with fierce opposition from local residents.
