Improved homes soundproofing scheme for Robin Hood Airport Doncaster
06.10.05
An improved scheme to soundproof homes is set to combat the problem of noise for people living close to Robin Hood Airport. Changes to the Sound Insulation Grant Scheme will give higher grants to residents to help tackle noise disturbance.
Improvements to the scheme include increased grants for providing secondary glazing (up from £2,400 to £3,000) and for loft insulation (up from 350 to £500), for those who qualify. The news follows a campaign by Don Valley MP, Caroline Flint.
Ms Flint said: 'My first concern has been to ensure that Robin Hood Airport is a good neighbour to those living on its doorstep. The revised Sound Insulation Grant Scheme is a big step in the right direction. The airport has listened carefully to the concerns of residents living closest to the airport and has made a number of important changes to make the scheme more effective.'
The company behind the insulation scheme, which is funded by the airport, will create a show house in Blaxton to demonstrate the quality of work that can be achieved at a reasonable cost.
Ms Flint also welcomed the extensive noise monitoring taking place in villages near the airport.
