Robin Hood Airport celebrate Yorkshire day
05.08.08
Robin Hood Airport helped to celebrate Yorkshire Day, with arriving passengers offered complimentary Yorkshire pudding, the Star reports.
Yorkshire Day has been celebrated for more than 20 years and the airport felt it should raise the profile of the regional celebration by highlighting the day to arriving passengers - using the airport as a gateway to the region and to promote some local produce. Staff wore white roses and flew the Yorkshire flag as they greeted passengers either visiting the region or returning home from business or holiday.
Jodi Stow, the airport's marketing and communications manager told the newspaper: ‘This is an important day for Yorkshire people and one that the airport wanted to share with its passengers. We felt there could be no better example of a true Yorkshire, world renowned, culinary delight than Yorkshire pudding and must thank The Real Yorkshire Pudding Company, who are based near Doncaster, in helping us share their puddings with our passengers.'
‘I suspect it was quite a surprise to be greeted with Yorkshire puddings, but it certainly made many passengers feel at home the moment they set foot back on Yorkshire soil.’
