Luggage warning from Robin Hood Airport
03.08.08
Robin Hood Airport has warned passengers to stick to luggage limits as they cope with the busiest holiday period of the year. The airport is particularly keen to stress restrictions that remain in force regarding liquids placed in hand luggage, brought in after terror scares two years ago.
Robin Hood Airport director Mike Morton said: ‘The summer holidays are an extremely busy time for the airport. To avoid costly mistakes, and to keep queuing times to a minimum, we're asking passengers to come prepared and to think about what they are carrying in their hand luggage.’
‘When items are discovered in hand luggage that exceed the volumes allowed, or do not comply with the restrictions, we have no alternative but to confiscate them, slowing down the security process for other passengers and causing disappointment and often financial loss for the individual concerned.’
Current limits mean liquids, gels and aerosols can be carried in individual 100ml containers which fit comfortably in a re-sealable clear bag no larger than 20cm by 20cm. But passengers are advised to put liquids within their hold luggage at check-in if they possibly can.
Passengers are limited to one item of hand luggage through the security screening point when travelling from Robin Hood, with a maximum size of 56cm by 45cm by 25cm.
