emergency landing at robin hood airport
02.05.05
A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing at the new Robin Hood Airport in South Yorkshire today. A full fire service and ambulance call-out took place as a precaution, but the aircraft landed safely.
The Jersey-bound Thomsonfly plane turned back to the airport minutes after take-off this morning, after the pilot had problems with the landing gear. Passengers returned to the terminal building while engineers inspected the aircraft, an airport spokeswoman said.
No further delays have been reported at the aiport as a result of the incident. Robin Hood airport only opened at the site of the former RAF Finningley last Thursday (see this earlier robin hood airport news story).
