Enterprise Zone status could boost Prestwick Airport

Prestwick Airport, already the home of aircraft engineering facilities for the likes of budget airline Ryanair and engine maker GE, could soon become a world leader in aerospace engineering after the Scottish Government made the airport part of a new enterprise area, the Ayr Advertiser reports.
This week Finance Secretary John Swinney announced the 14 sites that will make up Scotland's four new enterprise areas. Each has been created to focus on industries with the greatest potential to create new employment opportunities, stimulate private investment and boost economic growth.
