Ryanair Prestwick flights boost local economy

Ryanair flights at Prestwick Airport generated £26m for the economy in Ayrshire, according to a study by Scottish Enterprise. The report also found the budget airline supports between 385 and 542 jobs in the Ayrshire area.
Over a million passengers travelled through the airport on Ryanair's 17 routes in the year to October 2005. Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire said Ryanair flights generated £140m for the Scottish economy, with inbound passengers spending an average of £300.
