Prestwick Airport fights windfarm plans
21.01.07
Plans for an 85-turbine windfarm at Dalmellington, East Ayrshire, are being opposed by Prestwick Airport and National Air Traffic Services (Nats), which claim the blades reflect radar signals and make them appear to be moving planes.
Nats say the 400ft structures' blades and towers would cause chaos, as they reflect radar signals and make them look like moving planes. Officials at Prestwick Airport agree that engineering firm AMEC's 85-turbine site in Dalmellington, Ayrshire, could cause havoc in the air.
A public inquiry into the planned site was due to be heard this month. But Nats have asked for more time to present their objections and the inquiry has been rescheduled for February 20.
