Big art display at Prestwick Airport

Artist Katy Storm has produced a series of huge paintings focused on travel, with the eight feet oil paintings currently on display at Prestwick Airport. Katy, 22, from Ayr, explained: ‘The work explores some of the places we commute through on our daily journey from A to B. The modern world is home to an increasing number of places for convenience. We see them nothing more than an object to transport us elsewhere, with no time spent making personal memories, thoughts on our location or reasons for being there.'
'My work aims to capture the still, alien and lonely amongst the chaos of everyday life. Through painting, I hope to present the spirit of discovery and vibrant sense of energy which, for me, these 'in-between' places provide.’
This her first exhibition since graduating from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen last July. She said: 'Prestwick Airport is the ideal location for them to be seen as larger work tends to require more 'breathing space'. Since arriving home in July, my parents have housed my paintings in their dining room. Although they are very encouraging, I think they are glad to have somewhere to eat on Christmas Day! Although I have worked on a smaller scale since graduating, I plan another large scale work specifically of Prestwick International Airport.’
The exhibition in on in the downstairs arrivals hall and upper level lounge at Prestwick Airport.
