Prestwick Airport passengers down 6%

Prestwick Airport handled 154,006 passengers last month, a 6% drop on last year. It follows a 7% drop in October and a 4% drop in September.
Local MP Brian Donohoe said that the current financial climate is to blame for the passenger decline, but is optimistic that the airport can ride the storm. He said: ‘We all know that people are tightening their belts. We know too that Britain and other economies expect to start growing again by 2010. I am very confident that Prestwick can ride out the next year and then continue to build on the successes it has achieved thus far.’
