300 new jobs at Prestwick Airport
19.10.06
300 new jobs are to be created at Prestwick Airport, a US aerospace firm announced. Goodrich plans expand its maintenance and report operation. The company currently employs around 250 people at Prestwick Airport where it first opened in 1996.
The expansion coincides with First Minister Jack McConnell's trip to the west coast of the United States where he is visiting the company's California facility. The First Minister said: 'This news today is very good for Prestwick, for Ayrshire, but it's also very good news for Scotland.'
'The aerospace industry is particularly important, high-quality, good value jobs, and this announcement in addition to bringing more than 300 new jobs to Ayrshire, will safeguard the existing workforce and will also be a boost to local suppliers.'
