Prestwick Airport passengers up 2.7%

The number of passengers using Prestwick Airport has increased for the second month running. 197,198 people passed through the airport in July, up 2.7% on a year earlier. Freight business also increased slightly, the latest figures have revealed.
A spokesman for the airport said the increase was encouraging ‘at a challenging time’. He added that the key driver was the successful partnership with Ryanair which operates 12 routes of out Prestwick, including Alicante Ibiza, and Tenerife, but the budget airline is cutting winter capacity, which will have a significant impact on its business.
