Prestwick Airport passengers down 19%

Prestwick Airport is suffering in the economic climate following a sharp decline in passengers. According to the latest statistics released by the airport's owners Infratil, it handled 160,419 passengers in April.
In comparison with the same time last year passenger figures were down by 19 percent. This is slightly better than in March, when passengers were down 22 percent on the previous year. The loss of charter flights is the main reason for the falls.
