Jet2 is to create more than 100 new jobs at Newcastle Airport. It is going to base an extra plane at the airport next summer, which will generate the new posts.
The budget airline is recruiting 118 new airport-based staff, cabin crew and pilots after a record summer at the base. It will launch five new routes from Newcastle next year - to Alicante, the Algarve, Toulouse, Krakow and Prague.
Philip Meeson, boss of Jet2, said: ‘Newcastle Airport is a key location for us. This is why we are introducing another aircraft, will operate fights to additional destinations and increased flight frequency on existing routes. Customer feedback shows there are additional routes and services the people of the North East want, and we have factored those into our plans.’
