Aer Arann and Eastern Airways scoop awards
15.11.06
Aer Arann and Eastern Airways have scooped awards from the European Regions Airlines Association at their annual General Assembly. The Association represents many organisations involved in air transport within Europe, including 70 airlines and 40 airports.
Irish regional airline Aer Arann has become the second airline to be awarded ERA's coveted Palme D'Or honour for sustained excellence, having for the last 2 years been awarded ERA's Bronze Airline of the Year Award. The Palme D'or, introduced in 2004, is awarded to an airline or airport in recognition of significant accomplishments and consistent high standards over time. The only other holders are Iberia Regional airline Air Nostrum and London City Airport.
At the same ceremony, Humberside-based Eastern Airways was named this year's winner of the Gold Airline of the Year Award. The nine year-old airline now operates more than 800 flights per week, and has recently introduced services from Durham Tees Valley to Brussels and Inverness to Newcastle.
